Le Moyne Dolphins 82, Syracuse Orange 79

The biggest win in the history of my alma mater, a D-2 school - beating a top 25 team (never mind the cross-town bully). Even though it’s preseason, I love this moment so much that I want to take it out back behind the Le Moyne Mart and get it pregnant.

I found myself today not only driving into the sunset, but realizing that I was driving into the sunset, all the while Bryan Adams’s “Everything I Do, I Do It For You” played.
Everything I do is epic.

Moving Toward a Geek Culture
Writer / actor John Hodgman has presented an interesting theory about a coming geek-centric future in a recent interview with the Kansas City News.
He explains that although previously, culture has been guided by more of a “jock” model (competition and strength), we are now headed into a world which will respect and idolize “nerds and technicians”. Read his full interview with the Kansas City News here.

I saw this show, I think. Roseland Ballroom, not Webster Hall. I was with Charlie and Anthony and Ken and Katie, I think. It was everything it said it would be. ‘

It was a long time ago, but this moment here is embedded in my memory pretty much permanently.

Happy National Sandwich Day

Today is National Sandwich Day.

And now, an ode to some of my favorite sandwiches ever.

  • Spicy #1 at Saigon Banh Mi, aka Viet Nam Banh Mi So. Pork roll, pork in jerk sauce, and vietnamese salami, a dash of sriracha hot sauce, pickled carrots, cilantro, and cucumber on a toasted crusty French baguette. With a Stewart’s diet root beer please.
  • The turkey and cheese at Primanti’s in Pittsburgh. With coleslaw and french fries on it. On the best bread ever. Side of pickles. And a pint of Iron City.
  • I’m one Yankees win away from being able to like Philly - specifically a steak with sharp provolone from Pat’s King Of Steaks. With onions, of course.
  • When at home? Eddie’s Deli on Bainbridge. Chicken cutlet on a hero with cheddar, lettuce onions, and honey mustard. Side of cucumber pickles. Diet Snapple iced tea.

The Almighty Defenders - All My Loving

a joyful noise

“The artist always plays to himself. I believe the audience - seeing that one person can be free to express his thoughts, however strange they may seem, inspires [them] to feel that perhaps they too can freely express their innermost thoughts with impunity, joy, and release, and perhaps discover our common bond - unique yet so similar - with each other.”
